Dear friends,

Kristanna called me yesterday and we did the "Ask Kristanna" interview.
It's a good chance that we will do this again in the future :-)

Here's also a modified transcript, posted June 10:

April 20th 2006, I had the pleasure to interview Kristanna Loken over the phone, Los Angeles - Norway.

I have a few questions for you from your fans. We had this "Ask Kristanna" topic over at your forums, letting the members ask one question each, picking the top ten to be sent to you. But as you know, I now have a list in front of me, as you wanted to give your fans a more personal experience, doing this over the phone and that's extremely cool. Are you ready to start?

“Yes, yes of course.”

Ok, here we go then:

Evren asks:
1) Dear Kristanna is there a kind of character or script that you really want to play in your future career and will you continue to make independent films like "Lime Salted Love"? We believe in you and will always follow you Kristanna, lots of love to you from Turkey, take care!

"Basically I think what attracts me to a part is where I am in my life personally, what I feel I need to convey through my art. The people that are attached, and the time period of the film. It is all of those aspects that attract me in a package essentially. So there's not one type of role or type of script, it doesn't really matter. If the subject matter is well written, and there are great people involved, and there's a character that I feel is important to portray that can effect people, then I would like to do it. If it speaks to me in that sense."

"And yes, I will definitely continue to do my own independent projects. Lime Salted Love is really the beginning of I think a long future of my own projects that I am going to be doing. I am also going to be producing and staring in another film on the scifi channel. So, being able to produce and work with the people that you want and get a script to a place that you want it to be, really gives an artist more control. So, I will definitely be creating my own projects in the future, also with my dad. He has written several scripts, some that really should get done."

Fantastic, thank you!

Themos asks:
2) Dear Kristanna, how can you imagine your future life, if you find the one you were searching for in "Ring Of The Nibelungs" independently if he was near you or far away?

“How would my life change?”

Not every fan knows how to write good English.

“No, no it makes sense.”

“I think it would be amazing and I would love to have a family, I mean in the job that I have its very hard on a relationship because you travelling a lot, you picking up and spend three months here and three months there. You meet different people constantly all the time, but it is the fairy of having that kind of quote and quote normality in your day to day life with family and partnership is very attractive to me. And I would love to have that, so hopefully in the future I can.”

Cool…

Mike asks:
3) Hey Kristanna, How is Love Apple Farm doing?

“Love Apple Farm…well that is a very good question.

The beautiful farm that I spent my childhood on and growing up. My parents have now reached an age, and also having the farm since 1969 so after 37 years it’s really time for them to move on in their life. You know my dad’s health hasn’t been the greatest he has a heart condition so it’s really time for them to move on. They have sold the farm and they are going to be moving out in the next few months I think they are probably coming to stay with me for a bit.”

-That’s great, I mean staying with you.

“Yea, it’s going to be a wonderful opportunity now that I have plenty of room in my house here and I feel honoured that I can you know welcome them in to my life here and then you know see where they want to move form there. My sister and I are on the west coast so they will probably want to remain somewhere closer.”

Great, all right then…Thank you.

Dreamzkape asks:
4) "You've worked your way up the ladder to fame, and since your breakthrough with T3, your career has been blooming-- including two starring roles. Even though it's early, and your career is still flourishing IF you could, would you go back and experience it all again?"

" Hmm, that's an interesting question. You know what; I think we are exactly where we are meant to be in this life time and in this world. I have certainly opened my eyes to all of the experiences and people and opportunities that have been presented to me and I think that's essentially how we keep growing and flourishing in life."

5) "Besides your quote: (“Believe in and follow your dreams”) can you give any inspiring advice for your fans on following their dreams?"

"Yea, I guess it would just kind of piggy back the last statement. Really just staying true to who you are as a person and believing in yourself no matter what. I've had lots of rejection. You get rejected 98% of the time to the 2% that you don't, so it's a life of rejection. But it can only make you stronger and more resilient in the future. If the belief and the desire are there, ask yourself what else would you do? If the answer is nothing, then you must keep doing it and keep that belief growing. I just think yes, staying true to who you are, the person, being as good and fair as you can, and believing in yourself."

-Great answer!

“Thank you.”

All right…

Allison asks:
6) If you could retire anywhere, where would it be?

“If I could retire anywhere?”

Yes.

I would say South Africa

Of course…

“My passion”

Your beach house?

“Exactly”

All right..

Hardi asks:
8) What was the most memorable moment you had when filming Mortal Kombat Conquest series?

That is if you can remember so far back…

“Yea, yea exactly, ah ….”

“Well let’s see, you know what, we were shooting in Florida, I think it was the MGM studios. We also had a big theme park. And I think the overall best thing about that experience was the experience, I was so young I was 18 and I was in Florida, Arlando for 8 months and I met some really wonderful people while I was there. I met two really close friends that are still very good friends of mine year’s later. -A girl friend of mine and another guy friend of mine, so I think the best part of that were the people that I met.”

Cool…Ok.

BastSchenk asks:
9) Hi Kristanna! As far as I know u'd like to appear in Terminator 4. If it'd become true, which way u would like to become your role as Terminatrix? For example I mean if u'd like to play a protecting-John-Terminatrix or a kill-John-Terminatrix? Or maybe u could appear as a human who was used for creating the Terminatrix?

“Wow, that’s an interesting question. Yea, I would be honoured to reprise my role in Terminator, the Terminator series I guess or the trilogy, but you know, I don’t know how they would go about, I mean it would be easy to bring my character back, but I don’t know if they would put her in the same theme of how she was before, or if she would make that transition like the Arnold Terminator did into you know a quote and quote good Terminator, they would have to reprogram her or, because she couldn’t make a conscious rational decision, like now I want to be better because she don’t think like that, so ahhh I don’t know the answer to that question, I don’t know. It would be interesting to see how they would bring her back.”
But, if you could choose?

“Ah, well I mean, you definitely want to have compassion in some way, even when you are killing people at point blank range, it gat to be something that people feel compassion towards, so you know they would have to make her classy in such a way that maybe she could use her femininity to kind of bring out the positive…”

You know Arnold started out as a mean killing machine and then in #2 he was a kind machine, so maybe..

“Yea, maybe they would take her on the same road?”

..But as you probably know there has been some news about Terminator 4 out, have you heard it?

“No, I haven’t.”

They have finished the script!

“Oh really, you know what’s funny, is that I am actually having dinner with Jonathan Mostow tonight, the director.”

Great!!!

..So it will be interesting to see what he has to say about that.

Yea, he probably knows about it and I hope he has good news for you.

“Oh thanks, yes I hope so too”

I would like to see you in Terminator 4, definitely.

“Thank you.”

All right…

Trent asks:
10) You have worked with Uwe Boll on 2 films -
what is it about Uwe you most like?

“He is, Uwe is, he is jut a really likeable guy. I mean he and I, and loyal, very loyal. He is just a pleasure to work with really and as a person as an individual he is very kind and considerate and he has a great passion for dogs. And you know I am a big dog lover and when we left Romania a lot of the cast and producer or whatever of BloodRayne brought back an animal, a dog or cat and Uwe brought back a dog and he also brought his dogs from Germany, you know and I brought my little Bobby back home.”

“She is really a sweet little dog; she is about a year and a half now. And he would just let them run around on the set. It’s not the main reason whey I am working with him that he also has a dog thing, but it’s definitely when people make the overall experience pleasurable, you definitely want to work with them again. Because you know how thy work and it’s rare in the film industry that people get the opportunity to work with each other again, so it kind of becomes like this intense family so when you feel that you can resurrect that family and see some of the same people it makes for a nice workplace. I think that’s probably the best thing about Uwe for me.”

Well cool…That’s it from your forum members, but I also have a few questions of my own, I hope that’s alright?

“Sure”

Ok, cool…

What do you think of your fans dedication interacting, posting photos etc. over at your official forums?

“Well honestly, I think that the site looks great Stein and I have been getting a lot of compliments too like from some random people: Oh wow look at your site, it looks so great, interactive and so yes, the response has been very good, and I think it is looking great.”

Ok, but you know I was talking about your forums. And I also have another question: If you ever would consider joining? You know you make your own profile and well it’s for interacting.

“Sure, sure, I unfortunately I am like a bit of an idiot when it comes to computers so I would probably, I can do, chat the email and I can you know go on the internet and that is about my level of knowledge.”

But I can help you, I can like set up an account for you, so you at least have an account there and then when you have time, you can log in and..

“Maybe I should, I just, I just, and I honestly don’t know if I would to be quite honest. I am..it would not be a matter of wanting to, it’s just that a lot of, a lot for me going on and….”

It’s all right; it’s all right and also…

There’s a very cool collaboration going on right now. Some of your fans are working on a song for you. Their plan is to collaborate on everything from lyrics to music and then record the song. What do you think about that?

“Wow, that’s wonderful and that’s a real compliment and to me it’s very inspirational. Where are these fans from?”

All over the world generally, I don’t know it’s a big thread, you should see it.

“Wow, yes I would love to hear it; I think that’s really beautiful and really sweet.”

I can send you the link, and you can go in there and read. You don’t have to be a member just to go around and read.

“Yea, that would be great. That would be great I would love to. Thank you.”

And about your tattoos: You have a horse on ankle, moon & star on wrists, cherub on toe, native American symbol for strength, personal crest on shoulder and, and…?

“I have elaborated on my tattoos. The bear claw on my lower back is now pretty much my whole entire wood stack. The bear claw being in the centre with like a bird eye view of the world around it and then two wings, like angel wings on the sides. And recently I just got another tattoo around my right ankle. This is kind of an interesting one. I don’t know if…I meditate. I have meditated since I was 18 and went on this really intense retreat last October, right around my birthday, in South Africa. So basically for ten days you meditate for 8 hours per day and there is no eye contact, no speaking, no nothing, just meditate. And so the guy for the course was from Burma, and he would chant in a very opaque language of what’s called “pali” and it’s the language that Buda spoke and he kept saying this one word: “Anicca”, “Anicca” and that means change or impermanence and that’s the word that’s always resonate in me, the only other constant beside the never ending ability to learn and grow within that change. So I mad it my quest when I got home, back to La, that I would find this “Anicca” in this pali text. And I did a whole little treasure hunt in LA, trying to find this book and in doing so I kept fining books on pali but only in Latin letters and I found a beautiful den centre I have been going to in the mean time. I ended up finding this tattoo in this book, in the ancient characters of the pali language in a bookstore in Delhi in India. So I ordered the book and found my “Anicca” word in the old text and those are the characters that I now have around my ankle.”

Cool, so you have eight now? A total of eight tattoos?

“Let’s see: One, two, three, four, five, six, and seven. I have 7 I think. No wait.”

You had six back in 2003 so..

“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven….Yes, seven.”

I know you are interested in charity work; you were recently seen at the
”Cinema for Peace” charity gala in Berlin with ”The Lord of the Rings” star Christopher Lee and others. What other charity projects are you involved in? I know there are some.

“That’s a good question. It’s seems like there is always something that you want to be a part of that is bigger than your self. And as an artist you have the ability to move people in a certain way that stands for something, so to be able to do charity work is really essentially to what it is all about, giving back to the community. When I was in Romania, I met this woman who ran a non profit organization for all the abandon babies in a hospital there. It’s a very great problem. I would go to a hospital that was like something from like 1930 or something. And I would see all of these infants. You know newborn to a year old, who have ivies in their arms bronchitis problems all kind of problems. And as long as they stay in this hospital, they don’t have any chance of get well because they are surrounded by all this sickness, so I ended up building them their own facility in Romania, witch was great. You know to be able to assure that hey would have a place that they could dislocate the babies. So that’s something I have been involved with on a more personal scale and also the “Cinema for Peace” and also in South Africa. There is a lot of work down there again with orphanages and stuff that I have done and will keep doing. Also with the animals down there, helping them get spade and neutered taken care of. So it’s really the cost that’s in it for me is babies and animals on a personal note.”

When you are a star you can, you can influence people with your work, more so than some ordinary person like me for instance, so you know…

“Well there is nothing ordinary about you Stein, I think you are pretty extraordinary”.

Well thank you! That’s very nice of you!

5) As your webmaster I get a lot of questions from fans and what they ask me the most is if you have any plans for a new “wall hanging” calendar? So my question is this, How about making one for 2007?

“Well you know, my mother have been kicking that idea around, she definitely would like to do another one. But now that the farm is gone, it has to be a little bit of a different theme. So I will definitely keep that in mind. I definitely will.”

Maybe a little bigger one this time?

“Ok.”

This is all I had.

This was an interview between Kristanna Loken and my self Stein Rudolph. Thank you Kristanna, it was so nice of you to do this interview. On behalf of my self and all your fans, thank you!

Heya, Stein! Hey, people!

I heard my question. hehe! Thanks. I'm listening to it at the moment, and it's absolutely fantastic. I agree that you and Kristy should definitely do a second interview, as it's very interesting and helps her get in touch with her fans. Awesome job, mate. Kristanna is very nice, friendly, warm, and certainly very spiritual-- as Trent already said. I think she's fabulous.

Sorry I've been away for so long, but I've been busy with personal problems and work. Things seem pretty cool online here. Tons of nice pictures-- thanks to FPS.

Have a good weekend, Stein. Thanks. It's kinda weird having my name heard in that interview... But it was interesting. Well done to everyone, I say. All the best to you, Stein, and Kristanna!

:D

It was fantastic to speak with her and I think we all needed this interview. Kristanna really cares about her fans :P I can understand why she don't feel like joining her own forums. She would get 100+ PMs and too many questions to answer. It's a very tough life being so well-known, all people want a piece and that's just impossible.

Kristanna and I have been friends since 2002 and that kind of friendship has to be earned.

We are five people working for Kristanna on her website. Trent, Evren, Toto and Kenneht are doing a hell of a good job!!! I am very happy to be part of such a good team.

http://www.isite5.com - Toto
http://www.tdmdesigns.net - Trent (under construction)
http://www.galatasaray.org - Evren
http://hem.passagen.se/tranan-k - Kenneth

Thanks for all nice words 8)

Best,

Stein
